Musical project – 1998
 

Viagens do Fado (engl. Fado Journeys) is a musical project that explores the different layers of Fado, the songs that are filled with nostalgia, saudades and a lot of soul. Songs of an unbearable lightness, beautiful and tragic songs that reflect the human condition, but can be songs of happy encounters and celebration at the same time.

The project assembled selected musicians from Portugal, Cabo Verde and Brazil with backgrounds in different musical genres.
With the participation of Carlos Martins (Saxophone and Artistic Direction), Camané (Voice), Filipa Pais (Voice), Carlos Manuel (Guitar), José Manuel (Portuguese Guitar), Mário Delgado (Acoustic Guitar), Ricardo Rocha (Portuguese Guitar), Paquito (Guitar), Bernardo Sassetti (Piano), Carlos Barretto (Double Bass), Maria Alice (Voice), Armando Tito Trio (Guitar, Cavaquinho and Piano), Ana Maria Brandão (Voice), Edu Miranda (Mandolin) and Loni Seiva (Guitar).

The project was presented in a series of shows and festivals:
Festival Festima 96, Tanz Folk Festival 1998 in Rudolstadt (Germany), “Viva a Rua” 1999 in Évora, 1º Festival das Músicas e dos Portos 2000, CAEV (Centro de Arte e Espectáculos de Viseu) 2000, “Músicas no Manuelinho de Belém” 2001, “Terceiras Jornadas de Música e Animação de Lavra” 2001
